30 Movies #5 - Fight Scene
I passed on some grander and more memorable cinema fights in favour of this scene from TMNT. This rooftop fight scene made the movie for me. I don’t know that I’d have given it a second watch if it didn’t have this scene in it. It also gave me a good excuse to draw the Turtles. Despite being from the 2007 movie I decided to draw Leo the way I’ve always drawn the Turtles. I prefer the classic look to some of the more recent styles. I think the original live action movie was the high water mark for me.

30 Movies #4 - A famous character had they aged in real time.
Dennis the Menace. Struggled to think of a good topic for this round.

Character Aged In Real Time - Rosemary’s Baby
He’d be 47 in a couple of weeks. I guess this is kind of a cheat, since you never SEE her baby or get told anything about what he looks like, apart from the fact that he’s got strange eyes, but I tried to give him something of a Mia Farrow resemblance… Ink on bristol board, but with some digital tinkering…

Scary Movie Sketch - Nosferatu
Reasonably quick (by my glacial standards) drawing of Nosferatu. I tried to make his hands look like giant spiders… Imagine you looked in your bath and saw two huge spiders, then invert the colours… That’s what I was going for… Yup. Ink on bristol board, about A5 size.

“Put the damn glasses on! Put ‘em on!”
30 Movies #3 - Scary Movie
They Live (1988). Not really a horror movie as such, but these guys were pretty scary. Also featuring Roddy Piper as a poor man’s Kurt Russell.
No film has ever been scarier to me than the remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers starring Donald Sutherland. Granted I was only 4 years old when I saw it (I can’t remember how that happened) but it’s still a scary film. This end scene in particular has stayed with me. It wasn’t just the horrific pose and scream, nor the idea of being surrounded by evil aliens, but - even at that age - I found the notion of being the only human left on Earth scary. The fear, the loneliness, the total isolation… terrifying.
Minimalist Poster: RoboCop. It’s one of my favourite movies and I really enjoy making up movie posters and DVD covers, even though graphic design isn’t really my forte…
Cheers!

Animated Movie Sketch- Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
Finished this a while ago, FINALLY got round to scanning it in and posting it! This was done at A3 size and being new to inking it took a while. I definitely learned a lot, and hopefully it’ll help me improve in the future.
